Race Recap: ETRL 2019 Round 3 – Nürburgring

Post Race Analysis
Round 3 of the ETRL had us back at TQ RC Racing - we're certainly getting our fill of Euro Truck carpet racing!

Spec Truck
We had a good turnout with the Spec Truck class - 11 in total - even with the 97° heat out in Chino.

Craig Hammon would TQ, but a DQ in Round 1 (missing rear bumper assembly) would drop his first place points to 0 for the round (he finished 11th overall). That allowed some of the other competitors a nice bump in the points; Greg Monise would cap off the day with 297 for P1 followed by Ken Gerberding (295 points) and Chad Rott (294 points).

Mark Goldwater did a great job jumping to P4 with Frank Liu only 5 points behind him in P5. Owen Rott placed 6th overall on his first ETRL Spec Truck showing - a great performance for the youngster.

Frank Monise had a great run as well, finishing the day in P7. Josh and Jonah Trout both had good first runs, but a family emergency saw them leave and miss the final two runs. Jason Dee would finish 9th, splitting the Trouts for the final points.

Here's the Top 3 for the day in Spec Truck.

Super Truck
The Super Truck class is growing with each race - Round 3 had 10 trucks going for the day's win!

Craig Hammon would TQ this class as well with is smooth driving posting him P1 for the day. Mark Goldwater would finish in P2 with Frank Liu 2 points behind in P3.

Jerermy Dee would have a great day, finishing P4 with James J right behind him in P5.

Tony Phalen had drivetrain issues in Races 1 and 2, but got them sorted for Race 3 where he took the win. He would finish 6th overall for the day, though.

John Christensen joined us for the first time and posted a P2 finish in Race 1. He also had a family emergency, have to leave before he could run in Race 2 and 3. His points put him in P7.

Ken Gerberding had a rough day as well, however he was able to stay in P8 by the end of the day. I'm sure he'll get things sorted by Round 4.

Julian Pedregon and Fernando Cosio were also plagued with gremlins all day. Their trucks looked fast in practice but electrical issues forced them to retire early in all 3 races. Julian would finish in P9, Fernando in P10. These guys are super competitive so I'm sure they have things sorted as well by the next round.

Here's the Top 3 for the day in Super Truck.
