Wheel Vent Rule Clarification | ETRL
In the past couple of races, we've noticed more and more drivers having 'plugged' wheel vent holes. A rule has been set in place stating the following:
"Wheel vent holes must not be plugged. When compressed, air must exit through the stock-sized wheel vent hole."
There are two reasons behind this:
1. When the vents are plugged, the tire is less likely to deform during load. This could provide a handling advantage.
2. After a few minutes of running, the air in the sealed tires could expand due to heat, causing the tires to balloon. This would change the outer diameter of the tire resulting in a speed advantage.
All vent holes must be open and of the original size as produced from the factory. Anyone with plugged or enlarged holes will receive a DQ, resulting in 0 points for that round.
Let's keep it fun - let's keep it fair.
